More Images from the Wisconsin Historical Society

An example of the binding these newspapers are encased in: decaying leather and hand-marbled paper with gold leafing in the label. It probably was a very handsome book once.

This one is "The New Yorker," which I got really excited about, thinking it was an early version of the modern New Yorker Magazine. But wikipedia says this wasn't first published until 1925. This newpaper is from 1838.

Rules for the Alexandria Library pasted in sometime before 1879.
